BDC Supporting Services

Person-Centred Plan

Each person we support has their own Person-Centred Plan - PCP. This means the care and support focus on the needs of the individual.

It ensures that people’s preferences, needs and values guide the choices and decisions which will be part of their Support Plan.

BDC Supporting Services

Communication Methods

We use various methods to support communication:

  • Clear and precise language
  • Pictures, symbols, videos, tactile objects, photos, drawings, lists, social stories
  • Body Language and facial expressions
  • Makaton and other sign language
BDC Supporting Services

Positive Behaviour Support - PBS

We develop, unique to the person, strategies to deal with distressed behaviour, changes, repetitive behaviour and other more serious self-inflicted harm.

The PBS will seek to understand the reasons and triggers for the behaviour so that unmet needs can be identified and met. PBS is a proactive and preventative approach, focusing on the teaching of new skills to replace the behaviour that challenges.
